FAQ

  • Will you be running residential programs for summer 2021?
    • As we monitor the situation around COVID-19 and prioritize the health and safety of our community, we have made the decision to run on-campus programming for summer 2021 in a commuter format. Our sessions will be “day programs” without a residential component.
  • What is the program tuition?
    • The program tuition is $1,995, which includes the tuition, course materials, lunch daily, and limited social activities as COVID policies allow
  • What can I expect for the day program format?
    • Day programs running in summer 2021 will take place on the Boston campus. Programs will be five days in length, running approximately 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. from Monday-Friday. Exact hours may vary slightly by program.
  • Can students who live outside the Boston area apply?
    • Yes. Although we are unable to offer on-campus housing to students during our summer 2021 programs, we welcome all students to apply as long as they have or can secure their own housing.
  • May I attend more than one program?
    • Yes, as long as you are admitted to each program and the dates do not conflict.
  • Who teaches the programs?
    • Programs will be led by Northeastern faculty, with the support of other instructors or graduate students. Current Northeastern students will serve as teaching assistants. One program planned for summer 2021 has been uniquely designed to be facilitated by a faculty member in conjunction with leaders of the student organization WISE.
  • How big will the programs be?
    • Enrollment varies by program. A typical size is 15-25 students per program.
  • Is it credit-bearing?
    • There is no credit awarded or transcript upon completion of the program. Students will receive a Recognition of Completion signed by a faculty member.
  • Will I have homework outside of class time?
    • Accelerate programs are rigorous and are meant to give students a taste of college academics.  All students can expect some work outside of class hours, typically working with peers on group projects.
  • What staff supports the program?
    • Students will be with faculty and teaching assistants during the daytime on weekdays (approximately 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
    • The programs are managed by Director of Pre-College Programs, Liz Quinn, and Senior Assistant Director of Pre-College Programs, Alice Smith.
  • What can I expect for meals?
    • Students are provided with lunch each day of the program. Meals will vary and may include grab-and-go totes and catered events
  • If I enroll, what do I need to know about health insurance?
    • If a student has a medical situation occur while on campus, we will bring the student to an Urgent Care facility or an emergency room, depending on the severity of the situation. We recommend checking with your current healthcare provider to understand what they recommend, especially if you are traveling to the United States.
  • I was admitted to the residential program in 2020 and want to attend in 2021.
    • Rising juniors that were admitted for the summer 2020 programs will receive automatic admission to our summer 2021 programs. Please keep an eye out for further messaging regarding this opportunity.
