Design & the Modern Makerspace

Boston Campus—July 6-18, 2025

Broaden your creative horizons with Northeastern’s 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art makerspace as your classroom. Faculty and makerspace staff lead students in design-thinking and ideation activities paired with hands-on learning to develop modern digital crafting techniques.

The Design & the Modern Makerspace program invites driven, creative high school students to experience how contemporary digital design and fabrication tools can expand what it’s possible for modern makers to create. Over the course of the program, students will explore printing, textiles, and jewelry making; and learn how the traditional practice of these crafts has evolved to incorporate new tools like laser cutters and 3D printers. The capstone of the program includes students completing an original project that can be used in their personal portfolio.
