Understanding Pre-CollEDGE Courses
Pre-CollEDGE courses are “online and self-paced.” What does that mean, and how do I know if it’s a good fit for me?
Pre-CollEDGE courses are online. The content is asynchronous, meaning students can access the course content, such as pre-recorded lectures, reading materials, and assessments, when convenient for them. There will also be an opportunity to join an optional live virtual lecture as well as visit a Northeastern University campus for a Campus Insider Experience—these activities are optional.
Does the course give credit or a grade?
No, Pre-CollEDGE courses do not give college credit. No letter or number grade is given at the conclusion of the course.
Is there a transcript upon completion?
Rather than a transcript, students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a digital badge.
What is a digital badge?
A digital badge issued by Northeastern University is a visual micro-credential that shows that you have engaged in skill development at a specified level. A digital badge will be awarded to students who successfully complete the course.
How many Pre-CollEDGE courses can I take?
If they choose, students can enroll in multiple Pre-CollEDGE courses either concurrently or consecutively.
What tech needs are required to participate?
Students will need a laptop or a tablet and access to high-speed internet.
What accessibility measures are in place for students?
We ensure that voice transcripts are available, alt text is provided for images, and we follow best practices for accessible design to create an inclusive experience for all users. Information regarding the full scope of support services will be outlined within the courses.
