NYC Musical Theatre Intensive
Session 1: June 21 – July 4, 2026
Session 2: July 5 – 18, 2026
Elevate your performance potential in the heart of NYC.
The NYC Musical Theatre Intensive is a two-week residential program that prepares aspiring performers for college auditions and beyond. Hosted at Marymount Manhattan College in the heart of New York City, students in this program receive individualized coaching alongside a supportive community of peers and industry professionals.
What You’ll Learn: Expert MMC faculty will help students develop essential skills grounded in current industry standards—from analyzing scripts and songs to making informed acting choices, using music to drive storytelling, and mastering self-tape techniques for digital pre-screens. The curriculum builds a strong academic foundation in music theatre history, music fundamentals, and musical analysis while emphasizing practical, performance-ready training.
The NYC Advantage: This isn’t just classroom learning—it’s immersive. Students attend Broadway shows, hear directly from working professional artists, and train where the industry lives. The program harnesses its unique location to offer experiences that can only happen in New York City.
College Audition Preparation: Faculty guide students through every aspect of the college audition process with personalized support:
– Selecting audition material tailored to each student’s strengths
– Providing intensive acting and vocal coaching in both individual and group settings
– Teaching self-tape techniques for virtual auditions
By the end of the two-week program, students leave audition-ready, confident, and equipped with the tools to succeed in any room—or on any screen.
“This intensive truly changed my life. I learned so much from multiple professors during my time there and grew immensely as an actress. I experienced a taste of a true BFA Musical Theatre curriculum, and it prepared me for all of my college auditions.”

Student Life
Days are immersive and focused. Academic sessions run from 10am-6pm, filled with coaching, rehearsal, and skill-building. Evenings are dedicated to refining craft—completing assignments, practicing material, and preparing for the next day’s work.
Students live in a Marymount Manhattan College residence hall alongside fellow participants and the Student Life Team. This isn’t just housing—it’s a creative community. The Student Life Team leads orientation activities, organizes optional social events, and provides support throughout the program. A 10pm curfew ensures everyone is rested and ready to bring their best each day.
A few group meals are included in tuition, giving students chances to connect with their cohort. For most meals, students are on their own—and that’s part of the NYC experience. The neighborhood offers countless options, from grocery stores and delis to restaurants spanning every cuisine. Students should plan to budget a minimum of $400 for meals and personal expenses. Actual costs will vary based on individual preferences and needs, but this provides the freedom to explore the city and fuel creativity.
“This program gave me the best education in musical theatre that I could ask for. It pushed me to become a better performer, helping me build my confidence, with amazing people all around me to do so.”
Ella, past program participant
