Academics and Student Life

Is the program credit-bearing?

There is no credit awarded or transcript upon completion of the program. Students will receive a Recognition of Completion signed by a faculty member.

Who teaches the program?

The program will be led by Christine Riley, Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at Marymount Manhattan College.

What can I expect for meals?

A few group meals are included in tuition, giving students chances to connect with their cohort. For most meals, students are on their own—and that’s part of the NYC experience. The neighborhood offers countless options, from grocery stores and delis to restaurants spanning every cuisine. Students should plan to budget a minimum of $400 for meals and personal expenses. Actual costs will vary based on individual preferences and needs, but this provides the freedom to explore the city and fuel creativity.

Where do students stay?

Students live in a residence hall alongside fellow participants and the Student Life Team. This isn’t just housing—it’s a creative community. The Student Life Team leads orientation activities, organizes optional social events, and provides support throughout the program. A 10pm curfew ensures everyone is rested and ready to bring their best each day.

What types of activities occur on the evenings and weekends?

Previous social activities include on-campus events such as arts and crafts and off-campus excursions such as the Statue of Liberty.

Are there any exceptions where a student could commute to the program?

This is a residential program. Students seeking an exception should contact the Pre-College team at precollegeprograms@northeastern.edu
